Narahashi Asako

NARAHASHI Asako was born in Tokyo in 1959. Graduated from Waseda University, majoring in art from the faculty of Literature. Participated in FotoSession in school days.
After graduation, started on one-man shows, opened the foot gallery 03FOTOS. She lives in Tokyo.
We presented her early series named NU E after 1998. The spirit of NU E (nue, a kind of legendary composite animal) visible in the landscape of Japan can only be captured through photography, and years after the series began, we strongly feel the wonder and eeriness of the unique world expressed in Narahashi's work. We show her the next series Funiculi Funicula in color. There are similar tastes, but different nuances between them. It is hard to convey how effectively Narahashi's snapshots capture the atmosphere of the city and its people in a way only photographs can.
