1960-1980
Friday, May 9-Saturday, June 7, 2025
12:00–19:00(Wednesday – Friday), 12:00–17:00(Saturday)
By Appointment only on Tuesday

We are pleased to announce the exhibition 1960–1980 by KODAMA Fusako, opening on Friday, May 9. This will be her fourth solo exhibition, following KODAMA Fusako’s Osaka, held two years ago.
The show features works from the 1960s, when Kodama began her photographic career in earnest, through the 1980s. Her uninterrupted creative output during this period coincides with her long-term contribution to Graphication, the PR magazine published by Fuji Xerox. Kodama began working with Graphication in 1970, three years after its launch, and continued until the magazine ceased publication in 2018. 1960–1980 can thus be regarded as the days of Graphication.
Based in Tokyo, Kodama also traveled extensively across Japan. Her images vividly capture scenes of everyday life—people talking, laughing, and pausing—as well as the evolving landscape of a changing Japan.
This exhibition also celebrates the release of her new photobook, Fusako Kodama 1960–1980, recently published by the French publisher Chose Commune.
