We are pleased to announce Yamazawa Eiko, Okanoue Toshiko and Ishiuchi Miyako 2021, a 25th anniversary exhibition opening in July 2021.

The Third Gallery Aya opened in 1996, and we mark our 25th anniversary this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the artists, collectors, curators, critics, staff, and everyone we have worked with along the way.

This group exhibition features three important artists represented by the gallery, and in conjunction we are publishing a catalogue with a text by Hagiwara Hiroko, specialist in the history and philosophy of art and Emeritus Professor at Osaka Prefectural University.

We regret that due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no reception for the exhibition. Major works by each artist will be exhibited, to be replaced with others on July 25th.

Yamazawa’s works will primarily be from her well-known series What I am doing, along with recently found vintage prints. Original collages and photographs by Okanoue will be exhibited, the photographs being not vintage but new prints from film recently discovered. Ishiuchi’s prints from Yokosuka Story will be shown at multiple sizes – the size at which they were originally exhibited in 1977, a cropped and printed roll size(1070 x 800mm), and large (455 x 560mm) size – alongside her works from the ひろしま/hiroshima series.
