We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition of the work of Ishikawa Ryuichi, titled Inside of Life.
For his series Camp, exhibited in 2016, the artist completed a survival climb, ascending a mountain with minimal equipment, securing his own food on site, and documenting the experience on film.
Five years after Camp, he has produced a new series, which was exhibited at a solo show in Tokyo in 2021. It will be shown in Osaka for the first time.

Ishikawa says, “I have ventured deep into the natural world and experienced its overwhelming power. This enabled me to realize that things and phenomena are not distinct but linked in a continuous gradation, a cycle of which I too am part.”
Here, too, he maintains the stance of capturing the essence of his subjects by engaging with them head-on through the camera lens. The viewer of these photographs may experience an unprecedented illusion of actually encountering living things.
